Now That’s What I Call Music! (1986) 8 UK TV Advert. Voiceover by David Jensen.

Now That’s What I Call Music 8 or Now 8 was released in 1986. The album is the 8th edition of the (UK) Now! series. This was the second of the series to be released on vinyl and on a single CD. The first being Now 4. It reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart, the fourth consecutive album of the series to do so, and stayed there for six weeks.

80’s ad for Tennents Larger.

Tennents Wellpark Brewery was founded in 1740 at Drygate Bridge, Glasgow, Scotland by Hugh and Robert Tennent. It is currently owned by Tennent Caledonian Breweries which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bass Brewers, itself owned by Belgian brewing company InBev (formerly known as Interbrew).
The company make Tennent’s Lager and Tennent’s Super.

Fiat UNO

1983 Fiat UNO advert.

The Fiat Uno is a supermini car produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat. The Uno was launched in 1983 and built in its homeland until 1995, with production still taking place in other countries.

The Uno was launched to replace the ageing Fiat 127. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro’s ItalDesign company, its tall, square body and a low drag coefficient of 0.34 won it much praise for airy interior space and fuel economy. It incorporated many packaging lessons learnt from Giugiaro’s 1978 Lancia Megagamma concept car (an experimental MPV) but miniaturised. It was voted European Car of the Year in 1984. Carlsberg

1983 advert for Carlsberg larger.

Carlsberg was founded by J. C. Jacobsen; the first brew was finished on November 10, 1847. Exportation of Carlsberg Beer began in 1868; foreign brewing began in 1968 with the opening of a Carlsberg brewery in Blantyre, Malawi. Some of the company’s original logos include an elephant (after which some of its lagers are named) and the swastika. Use of the latter was discontinued in the 1930s because of its association with political parties in neighboring Germany. Carlsberg founder J. C. Jacobsen was a philanthropist and avid art collector. With his fortune he amassed an impressive art collection which is now housed in the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in central Copenhagen. Read the rest of this entry »
