Fiat Regata car advert from the 80′s
The Fiat Regata was the saloon version of the Fiat Ritmo small family car, produced by Italian automaker Fiat. It was produced from 1983 to 1990, corresponding to the post-facelift Ritmo. The Regata had a choice of three gasoline and two diesel engines. Competitors in the same class as the Regata were the Audi 80, Ford Orion, Rover 213/216, Vauxhall Belmont and the Volkswagen Jetta. It was produced with the same look, but on Fiat 131 chassis as Tofaş Şahin and Tofaş Doğan in Turkey until 2002.
Spanish builder SEAT created a similar saloon car from Ritmo underpinnings called the SEAT Málaga. Nevertheless, development for the two cars was separate.

The Nissan Sunny is a small car from Nissan. It was launched in 1966 as the Datsun 1000 and although production in Japan ended in 2004, it remains in production today for the African and American markets. In the US, the later models were known as the Nissan Sentra; in Mexico, the Sunny is known as the Nissan Tsuru. The Sunny fit neatly into Nissan model line. (more…)
The GT Turbo was introduced as part of the phase 2 of the Renault 5 in 1985. Following Peugeot’s hugely successful and iconic 205 GTi, the Billancourt firm mustered a riposte. It used a heavily modified four cylinder, eight-valve “Cléon” 1394 cc engine (bored out to 1397cc) from the Renault 8 Gordini — a pushrod unit dating back to the 1950s. It was turbocharged with an air-cooled Garrett T2 turbocharger. (more…)
