1986 Advert for Skips “Chewing’s for chumps skip it”

Skips are a snack from the UK; they were first launched in 1974 as prawn cocktail flavour. The snacks are made by United Biscuits and sold under the KP brand. Today they are available in bacon and cheese flavours in addition to the more traditional prawn cocktail. Other flavours, such as pickled onion, have been available in the past.

Often, packets of skips have strange jokes on the back of them.

The idea behind Skips is that they fizz and melt on the tongue, which was developed by Japanese Company Meiji Seika.

Future EastEnders actress Daniela Denby-Ashe appeared in a Skips advert as a teenager.
