Now That’s What I Call Music 9 or Now 9 was released in 1987. The album is the 9th edition of the (UK) Now! series, and reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart for five weeks. Like the previous volume it was given a single CD release which featured a selection of tracks available on the full vinyl/cassette release. All subsequent releases from Now 10 would have a full double CD release with all tracks included.

Now That’s What I Call Music 8 or Now 8 was released in 1986. The album is the 8th edition of the (UK) Now! series. This was the second of the series to be released on vinyl and on a single CD. The first being Now 4. It reached #1 on the UK Albums Chart, the fourth consecutive album of the series to do so, and stayed there for six weeks.

Now That’s What I Call Music 7 or Now 7 was released in 1986. The album is the 7th edition of the (UK) Now! series. It was #1 on the UK Albums Chart for five weeks.
The original 1986 release featured a bonus track “A Kind of Magic” by Queen. On the LP this featured as a 9th track on Record 2 Side 1 (NOW72A). Continue reading

Now That’s What I Call Music 6 or Now 6 was released in 1985. The album is the 6th edition of the (UK) Now! series. It made it to #1 in the UK initially for two weeks, then returned for another two weeks in January 1986 after Now – The Christmas Album had replaced it at the top. Now That’s What I Call Music 4 or Now 4 was released in 1984. The album is the 4th edition of the (UK) Now! series. This album reached #2 on the UK Albums Chart, kept off the top by the newly premiering Hits album series.Also notable is that this volume marked the first Now album to be released on Compact Disc. It was seemingly a test run as the single-CD contained a selection of tracks from Now 2, Now 3 and Now 4, collecting 15 tracks altogether. It wasn’t until two years later in 1986 that a Now compilation was next released on CD, with a single-CD issue of Now 8. Continue reading
